You've Been Looking Forever and You're Confused?
So, you’ve clicked here because you’ve been to countless boutiques, tried on a million wedding dresses, been stuck in the infinite scroll that is social media and yet, you are still no closer to making a decision on what wedding gown to wear!
Fear not! Put down your phone, (after you finish this, of course) close your eyes, take a deep breath and relax. Far too often, we put too much pressure on ourselves and create more drama than we need. I truly feel that social media plays a hand at making us feel like this. Overwhelmed and our eyes are flooded with endless images of other people’s lives. Sometimes it’s helpful when we’re stuck for ideas, but it’s also incredibly addictive and can be destructive. If this is you, it’s time to go back to the beginning.
I suggest going back over your photos of the gowns you’ve tried and start eliminating them. if it doesn’t make a top 5 or if you can manage a top 3 list, then delete it from your phone. Now it’s time to go back and retry these gowns. This is when your bridal tribe actually come in to assist!
The things to consider to help the elimination process are :
1. Your personality and personal style : Are you going to be walking down the aisle as you or someone else? Try to go with something that reflects YOU and not the person you saw on Insta.
2.Your Venue : Are you getting married at the beach? Is your venue formal? Is it relaxed? Your chosen gown should tie in with the overall vibe of your wedding.
3.Your Budget : I realise this is an incredibly important day for both you and your partner, but don’t get carried away with falling in love with crazy expensive things that blow your budget. Everyone has one and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
4.Your Body Type : Dress for your body type. Are you looking at the right silhouettes? Is the gown doing all the right things for you and accentuating your figure? You might want to ask the advice of the boutique assistant or designer. After all, they do this everyday and know their gowns best.
